San Diego
Considering its shared border with Mexico, San Diego’s culture is heavily influenced by Mexico. World-class museums, theatre, dance, music and art attract adoring patrons to the city, along with the natural beauty of San Diego’s beaches, coves, parks and caves. Native Americans inhabited “the birthplace of California,” or San Diego, for over 10,000 years before the European settlers. The establishment of a mission and fort in 1769 marked the period of Spanish and Mexican rule. San Diego was incorporated into the United States in 1848 and began to expand as military developments increased within the town. Today, San Diego maintains a strong military presence, enjoys a culturally diverse community and is a leader in many modern industries including technology and international trade.

Ensenada
Ensenada, a picture-perfect port of call on a Disney Cruise Line Mexican Riviera vacation, is the third largest city in the Mexican state of Baja California. Located along the Todos Santos Bay of the Pacific Ocean approximately 70 miles south of Tijuana, Ensenada is a sun-soaked paradise of pristine beaches, turquoise blue water and rugged mountainous terrain. Known as the "Cinderella of the Pacific," Ensenada boasts something for everyone. For Guests looking to uncover the cultural roots of the region, both the Museo De Historia and the Estero Beach Museum delve into the fascinating history of the Mexican people through a variety of age-old artifacts and wondrous folk art. For treasure hunters, Avenida Lopez Mateos and Boulevar Costero—2 parallel streets near the waterfront—offer approximately 8 blocks of stores, boutiques, bazaars, galleries and roadside vendors selling all sorts of handmade goods. Additionally, the bustling boulevard known as La Primera is home to a myriad restaurants, bars and shops including the 19th-century Hussong's Cantina and Papas & Beer. Ensenada is a city known for celebration and the locals are very friendly and welcoming to visitors. Unbeknownst to some, Ensenada is well known for its many wineries. In fact, 90% of the very best Mexican wines are produced in Ensenada, which is home to the oldest winery in Mexico, Bodegas de Santo Thomas, established in 1888. A mainstay at many a restaurant in Ensenada is seafood. Not surprisingly, commercial fishing is a big industry in town, and the majority of all catches—including tuna, shrimp, lobster and sardine—is exported to the Far East.

Cabo San Lucas
Located at the southern tip of the 1,000-mile long Baja California peninsula, Cabo San Lucas boasts a landscape dotted with prickly cacti and dramatic rock formations bordered by white-sand beaches and sparkling turquoise waters. Its gorgeous scenery and mild desert-like climate make this city a natural destination on a Disney Cruise Line itinerary. Cabo San Lucas is famous for sports fishing, earning a reputation as the billfish capital of the world and plays host to a gala of marlin-fishing tournaments every year. "Cabo," as they call it, is also fast becoming a golf mecca, home to some half dozen world-class championship golf courses. Two of the most popular scenic attractions include Playa del Amor (Lover's Beach) and El Arco, where the Sea of Cortez meets the Pacific Ocean at Land's End. Name your sport, Cabo is sure to offer it—most likely beachside. There's all types of water activities from sailing and parasailing to boating and jet skiing, to scuba diving, snorkeling and of course, fishing. Those who prefer sticking closer to terra firma can enjoy golf, horseback riding and verdant nature hikes. Cabo San Lucas attracts visitors from all over the world, especially America, and thus has an international feel with a strong American influence in everything from eateries to designer boutiques. But you can still find traditional Mexican "street food" at the local taquerias and get your fill of authentic tacos, tortas and quesadillas. And for a dose of local culture, Cabo San Lucas has a nice selection of artesian markets, Jesuit missions and art galleries. The Casa de la Cultura originally served as a refuge for U.S. citizens during the U.S.-Mexican War of 1847 and its structure has been preserved. It features a theatre, small park and lookout point with a commanding view of all Cabo.
